LabMan for Mobile Devices

There are electronic versions of LabMan available for Palm and PocketPC mobile devices. Instructions and downloads for these devices are available below.

Installing the PalmOS LabMan

You will need to HotSync twice the first time: once for the application and once for the database

1. Download the PalmOS Installer ( ~500kb )
2. Double Click the "LabManPalmOS" icon to start the installer.
3. At the prompt "Do you want to Install LabMan for PalmOS?" click "Yes"
4. The file will extract and the "Install Application" window should open momentarily.
5. Your Palm User Name should appear under the heading "Install the application for user"
6. Click the "Start Install" button.
7. The "Synchronization Setup" window should appear.
8. Make sure the "Restart synchronization manager now" checkbox is checked.
9. Click the "Finish" button.
10. Connect and HotSync your Palm: this installs the application
11. Connect and HotSync your Palm again: this installs the database
12. Your PalmOS LabMan viewer and database are installed.

Installing the PocketPC LabMan

1. Download the PocketPC Installer ( ~500kb )
2. Double Click the "LabManPocketPC" icon to start the installer.
3. At the prompt "Do you want to Install LabMan for PocketPC?" click "Yes"
4. The file will extract and the "Install Application" window should open momentarily.
5. Connect your PocketPC device.
6. Click the "Start Install" button.
7. The "Application Downloading Complete" window will appear prompting: "Please check your mobile device screen to see if additional steps are necessary to complete this installation". Click the "OK" button.
8. The "Transferring DbFiles to device." window will appear, and databases transfer progress will be displayed for LabManRDB.cdi and LabManDB.cdi. Wait for the transfer to finish.
9. When the transfer is complete your PocketPC LabMan viewer and database are installed

Udating the PalmOS LabMan

1. Updating the PalmOS LabMan is the same as Installing the PalmOS LabMan.

Updating the PocketPC LabMan

1. In order to update your LabMan application, you must first make sure it is not running. On your PocketPC device:
   1. Click the "Start" menu icon at the top left corner of the screen.
   2. Click on "Settings" menu item.
   3. Click on "System" tab at the bottom of the screen.
   4. Click on "Memory" icon.
   5. Click on the "Running Programs" tab at the bottom of the screen.
   6. Click on the "Stop All" button.
2. Now Download the PocketPC Installer ( ~500kb )
3. Double Click the "LabManPocketPC" icon to start the installer.
4. At the prompt "Do you want to Install LabMan for PocketPC?" click "Yes"
5. The file will extract and the "Install Application" window should open momentarily.
6. Connect your PocketPC device.
7. Click the "Start Install" button.
8. The "Applications Already Installed" window will appear, prompting ""YNHH LabMan" is already installed.  Do you want to proceed with the re-install/upgrade?".  Click the ="Yes" button.
9. The "Application Downloading Complete" window will appear prompting: "Please check your mobile device screen to see if additional steps are necessary to complete this installation". On your PocketPC device:
   1. The PocketPC will prompt "The previous version of YNHH LabMan will be removed before the new one is installed.  Select OK to continue or Cancel to quit." Click the "OK" button
10. Click the "OK" button on the "Application Downloading Complete" window.
11. The "Transferring DbFiles to device." window will appear, and databases transfer progress will be displayed for LabManRDB.cdi and LabManDB.cdi. Wait for the transfer to finish.
12. When the transfer is complete your PocketPC LabMan viewer is installed
