Reporting Of Results

Results for all patients are reported in the hospital computer (Sunrise or SCM) as soon as they are available.

Results for outpatients are also faxed or mailed to the physician's office or clinic from which the test was ordered. Clinics on Centricity EMR (Logician) have results sent electronically.

Telephoning Critical Values Results suggesting a condition which represents an immediate threat to the patient's health will be reported directly by telephone to the physician, nurse or PA responsible for the patient. SCM Downtime

If SCM is down, results can be obtained through Direct Lab Access. The use of the laboratory computer system is described more fully in the topic entitled Laboratory Information Terminals and SCM Direct Lab Access.

When computer access is not available, laboratory results may also be obtained by directly calling the laboratory responsible for performing the test:
