Structure and function of the cortical cytoskeleton, and its role in membrane organization and signal transduction in erythrocytes, renal epithelial cells, and neurons. Disorders arising from hereditary defects in the cortical cytoskeleton.

Other areas of interest include neural and GI pathology and medical informatics.
