Disease Spectrum:
bullet. Malaria, tuberculosis, pertussis, diabetes, asthma, seizure disorders, psychiatric diseases – advanced stages of many common and rare diseases.
Clinical Responsibilities:
bullet. Primary responsibility is bedside teaching with junior Indonesian doctors.
bullet. Inpatient – little- At most we have 3 in-patients and these are cared for by the nurses. Rarely there may be some night time responsibilities.
bullet. Outpatient - Very full; estimates that _ would be admitted in US.
bullet. Community outreach: Frequent community meetings both for environmental protection and health promotion
bullet. Frequent home visits
bullet. No taking call
bullet. No ER to staff
bullet. No ICU
Personnel Needed from: Internal Medicine, Emergency Medicine, Pediatrics, Family Practice
Length of Rotation: Minimum of six weeks, including travel from US
Logistics:
bullet. Reimbursement Award amount: $4000
bullet. Shared housing available with our Indonesian staff and other volunteers.
bullet. No language requirements, our Indonesian physicians speak English
bullet. Paperwork: Indonesian visa
bullet. Excluded dates – Ramadan (9/2 – 10/3/08) and the last ten days of December
