Pulmonary & Critical Care Medicine at the Veteran’s Administration Connecticut Health Care System

The Section of Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine at the VA, directed by Dr. Hilary Cain, has active clinical, educational, and research activities, and provides the bulk of the outpatient training for the pulmonary fellowship. Clinics at the West Haven and Newington campuses received over 1,200 new consultations last year under the direction of Drs Carolyn Rochester and Hilary Cain, respectively. Under the direction of Dr. Klar Yaggi. there is an active 4 bed sleep laboratory. Under Dr. Cain the medical intensive care unit recently expanded to 6 beds. A Pulmonary Rehabilitation Program under Dr. Rochester has now been established and has been accepting patients for over a year. Dr. Cain also runs the VA PFT Laboratory which is an active site of fellow physiology training.
