Nephrogenic Systemic Fibrosis
---------------------------------------------------------------- The Robert W. Berliner Annual Lecture: The annual Robert W. Berliner Lecture is jointly sponsored by the Section of Nephrology and the Department of Cellular and Molecular Physiology. It honors Robert W. Berliner, M.D., who made major contributions to the foundations of modern renal physiology, who was a major driving force in making the NIH the leading biomedical research institution in the world, and who was Dean of the Yale School of Medicine from 1973-1984. Past lecturers have included: 1992 Maurice B. Burg The John Punnett Peters Annual Lecture: The annual John Punnett Peters Lecture is jointly sponsored by the Section of Nephrology and the Section of Endocrinology, which are derived from the Section of Metabolism that Dr. Peters founded and led at Yale from 1922-1955. Dr. Peters was a major contributor to establishing the scientific basis for understanding fluid and electrolyte disorders in man, and thereby was one of the founders of nephrology as an academic discipline.
