Over the past 6 years, the Section of Nephrology has substantially expanded its efforts and commitment to the care of patients with renal disease. Nine full-time faculty now work in the clinical track, seeing patients regularly in our outpatient clinics and dialysis units. Our dialysis programs have expanded to provide care to over 240 patients. This robust clinical practice provides excellent service to patients and referring physicians, and provides abundant opportunities for clinical research and teaching. Clinical training in the fellowship program has been substantially enhanced by our expanded clinical practices. Clinical experience is broad and intense. Weekly didactic seminars in dialysis care, transplant care, renal pathophysiology, and renal pathology supplement the clinical experiences in the hospitals and clinics. Regardless of a fellow's career objectives, we aim that each fellow emerge from the fellowship as a highly competent clinical nephrologist.

My time is divided between caring for patients as a clinical nephrologist, serving as a clinical teacher, administering the Renal
Fellowship Program, serving as Medical Director of Dialysis here at Yale, and serving as Divisional Medical Director for Gambro
Healthcare. Each of these roles is special to me, and I perceive my roles principally as serving others through these activities.
