Assistant Professor of Medicine B.A., 1994: Yale College E-mail: ursula.brewster@yale.edu
Chronic kidney disease is an epidemic in this country. As a clinician-educator, my focus is primarily on the care of patients with renal disease and on the education of the fellows and housestaff. In my clinical practice, I see patients with chronic kidney disease and end stage renal disease on hemodialysis or peritoneal dialysis. I work closely with the fellows on the care of those patients in the hospital and intensive care units with end stage renal disease, CKD or acute renal failure. I have an interest in the contribution of the renin-angiotensin-aldosterone system to renal disease and in the role of toxic exposures in progression of CKD. The role of infection and preservation of dialysis access in ESRD patients is also an interest.
