• OMC includes Orotta Children’s Hospital (200 beds); Orotta Maternity Hospital (82 beds) and the Orotta Medical-Surgical Referral Hospital (60 beds)
• 45 FT physicians on staff

Disease Spectrum

• Broad range of medical and surgical diseases including GI, respiratory illnesses and malnutrition. Infectious diseases including TB, HIV/AIDS, some malaria.

• Inpatient
• Outpatient Subspecialty clinics
• ER
• Medical ICU
• Present lectures/Medical student training
• Optional call

Personnel Needed

• Internal Medicine
• Pediatrics

Length of Rotation

• Minimum of six weeks, including travel from US

Logistics

• Award amount: $3500
• Pensions or hotels in Asmara
• Language requirements: English is widely spoken; Tigrigna, Arabic, Italian useful
• Paperwork: Tourist Visa from Eritrean Embassy; medical practice permission form
• Excluded dates: mid-December through mid-January
