Thank you for your interest in the Yale/Johnson & Johnson Physician Scholars in International Health Program. Our established program rotations sites are in Eritrea, Honduras, South Africa and Uganda. Sites have recently been developed in Liberia and Indonesia.
Our partnership has expanded to include Stanford University; we are now operating as the Yale/Stanford Johnson & Johnson Global Health Scholars Program.
In 2009-2010, we are sponsoring 39 physicians selected from applicants at Yale, Stanford and 12 other programs. In addition, we have selected 22 residents and career physicians from 9 more institutions, some of whom are in a new unfunded category. This extremely qualified group will be able to rotate through our sites, and use all the resources available to the sponsored group, but they will be responsible for all the costs of their travel and lodging. We are honored that the J&J program's reputation, on-site support and supervision given to J&J scholars has generated this level of interest and commitment to our goals of developing human infrastructure at our partner sites.
For the 2010-2011 cycle, we are planning to offer similar opportunities to a small number of highly competitive applications whom we will be unable to fund through our J&J grant. These individuals will be able to use all our resources, similar to funded applicants, and will also be considered as Yale/Stanford J&J Global Health Scholars.
We will expect scholars in the 2010-2011 program year to attend one of two pre-departure orientation sessions in the late spring and early summer of 2010, to be held in New Haven and in Palo Alto.
Please continue to check our website, as more information about each site will be posted.
