Academic Activities

Dr. Huot is Director of the Primary Care Internal Medicine Residency and Co-Director of the Combined Internal Medicine/Pediatrics Residency. He attends on the general medical ward teams and the nephrology consult service. Dr. Huot teaches at the medical student, resident and fellow levels. He is involved in the Introduction to Clinical Medicine Course for students and he supervises students, residents and fellows in his hypertension practice as well as on the wards when attending in Medicine and Nephrology. He oversees the design, implementation, evaluation and delivery of the overall curriculum for the Primary Care Internal Medicine and the Medicine/Pediatrics Residency Programs. Dr. Huot also Co–Directs the Yale Minority Medical Education Program, an innovative summer enrichment program for college students pursuing careers in medicine.

Dr. Huot’s main areas of academic interest are medical education and hypertension quality improvement/health service research. His scholarly interests in medical education are in the area of evaluating clinical competence, faculty development, and assessing the impact of training program and teaching service structure on patient care and education.

Dr. Huot is an active member of the Society of General Internal Medicine, the American College of Physicians and the Association of Program Directors where he serves on the Public Policy Committee.

Clinical Activities

Dr. Huot’s principal clinical interest is in the area of chronic disease management for patients with diabetes and/or the treatment of patients with refractory hypertension, renal insufficiency, and vascular disease. He directs a hypertension referral practice at Yale School of Medicine where he sees a diverse group of patients and he oversees the Diabetes Disease Management Clinic at Waterbury Hospital where he precepts PGY 2 residents during their ambulatory block rotation.
