Dr. Petersen is a clinical investigator who specializes in research on the mechanisms of liver glucose metabolism in humans especially in obesity, diabetes, exercise and liver cirrhosis and also involves research on the mechanisms of insulin resistance. Dr. PetersenŐs main focus is the use of nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectroscopy and stable isotope techniques in conjunction with the insulin clamp technique. Dr. Petersen teaches at Yale University and is a member of the American Physiological Society, American Federation for Clinical Research, the American Diabetes Association and Society of Magnetic Resonance in Medicine.
