RESEARCH and CLINICAL INTERESTS:

1) Occupational lung disease.
2) Biomarker / molecular epidemiology environmental health research integrating clinical research with cellular and molecular approaches.
3) Clinical immunologic studies on the pathogenesis of isocyanate asthma.
4) Protective role of retinoids/ vitamin A in the lung:
a) In vitro and in vivo (rodent) studies characterizing the effects of retinoids/ vitamin A on the lung, and their role as host factors in modulating environmental lung injury.
b) Clinical studies investigating the role of vitamin A in the lung: i) Vitamin A intervention trial determining effects of vitamin A on early markers of lung carcinogenesis/ fibrosis; ii) Clinical studies characterizing vitamin A and other nutrients in the lung.
5) Occupational liver disease, solvent-induced liver injury.
6) Clinical occupational medicine - patient care and consulting (private and public sector).
