- Atrioventricular septum
- Since the tricuspid annulus attaches to the septum more apically (inferiorly) than the mitral annulus, a portion of septal myocardium lies between left ventricle and right atrium.
- Central fibrous body
- Fibrous trigone structure closely related to the aortic, mitral and tricuspid valves at the superior junction of the septum. Within it is the His bundle.
- Chiari network
- Remnants of either Eustachian or Thebesian valve forming strands that attach to either the atrial wall or atrial septum.
- Crista supraventricularis
- Muscular ridge on the septum consisting of two parts: the parietal band which extends to the free wall and the septal band extending inferiorly onto the ventricular septum. The septal band contains the bundle of His is continuous with moderator band.
- Crista terminalis
- Right atrial muscular ridge that separates the smooth entrance of the vena cavae from the trabeculated part of right atrium.
- Eustachian valve
- Medially located crescent-shaped lip at mouth of vena cava
- Fossa ovale
- Crescentic-shaped opening formed by secundum atrial septal tissue and normally closed by thin fibrous tissue.
- Infundibulum
- Smooth-walled outlet of the right ventricle forming the conal segment.
- Left atrial appendage
- The smaller, finger-like, atrial appendage possessing a narrow mouth and prominent trabeculations (pectinate muscles).
- Limbus
- Right atrial structure composing the thickened and elevated margin of the fossa ovalis
- Membranous septum
- Membranous part of ventricular septum that is a small triangule located in the angle between the posterior and right aortic cusps. The membranous ventricular septum incorporates a small part of the atrial septum. On the right side most of the membranous septum lies in the right atrial septum straddling the tricuspid annulus (tricuspid annulus is more apical than the mitral annulus).
- Moderator band
- Cordlike structure crossing at mid-right ventricle between septum and free walls which contains right bundle branch conduction tissue.
- Pectinate muscles
- Prominent trabeculations within the left atrial appendage.
- Right atrial appendage
- A pyramidally shaped atrial appendage with a broad mouth
- Sinus venosus
- Embryologic confluence of veins at entrance of vena cava
- Thebesian valve
- Crescentic hood of tissue at the mouth of the coronary sinus
- Trabecula septomarginalis
- Marks the transition along the left ventricular septum where the fine trabeculations characteristic of the apical portion become smooth at the base.
- Trabeculae
- Are fine muscle structures in the left ventricle but are coarse in the right ventricle.
- Triangle of Koch
- That portion of the atrioventricular septum that contains the atrioventricular node and the proximal portion of the His bundle.
- Ventriculo-infundibular fold
