Clinical Services

The Section of Allergy and Clinical Immunology includes a team whose focus is allergic and immunologic diseases, and immune deficiency diseases. Members are board certified in Internal Medicine and in Allergy and Clinical Immunology. Specialized diagnostic and clinical care is provided for allergy, clinical immunology, and immunodeficiencies. Examples include urticaria and angioedema, drug and food allergies, vasculitis, and autoimmune diseases. The newly established Yale Allergy and Sinus Center provides multidisciplinary care in conjunction with the Section of Otolaryngology. Management of complicated cases is discussed during weekly conferences.

Among special services offered by this section are the following:

  • Guidance with medications for the allergic reactive nose
  • Allergy desensitization shots for allergic rhinitis, asthma, and hymenoptera stinging insect hypersensitivity
  • Intravenous immunoglobulin (gamma globulin) therapy
  • Immunosuppressive therapy including immuran, cytoxan, cyclosporin, and corticosteroids
  • Optimal immunopharmicotherapy for asthma
