We have been having severe problems with clogs on LSRIIs. This has exacerbated problems with limited time slots as users cannot complete their sample runs. In addition, it has required extra work to repeatedly unclog the machines. The situation on the weekend has been particularly unreliable.

To prevent clogs we will be enforcing the following rule as of Feb 28th: All samples to be run on the LSRII must be filtered at the machine just before running them. This can be accomplished with filter tubes or with pieces of Nitex (see Analyzer rules for info). Violoators will be given a Level II violation. Repeat offenders can lose privileges to use the facility and their PI will have to pay fines. Please adhere to this new rule, which will be strictly enforced. We may in the future extend it to the FACScaliburs, which are also experiencing frequent clogs.

Please report any clogs or erratic machine behavior as soon as you see it so we can take corrective action. Thanks for your cooperation.
