New Cell Sorter satellite facility is located in room 416 of the Amistad building.  Anyone interested in using the facility will need to have proxy card access on their ID cards.  This access can be added for free at the ID center.

The new FACS facility is equipped with a FACS Aria cell sorter as well as a new LSR II.

The FACS Aria has 4 lasers (488 nm blue laser, 635 nm red laser, 405 nm violet laser and a 355 nm UV laser). This machine is capable of sorting appropriate human materials, and is equipped with aerosol containment. It also is our only sorter that can handle UV excitation for cell-cycle and “side-population”-based sorting. Anyone interested in having cells sorted can contact Don Foster at don.foster@yale.edu or at 5-2299.

The LSRII has 4 lasers (488 nm blue laser, 635 nm red laser, 532 nm green laser, and a 355 nm UV laser) and has multiple photomultiplier tubes per laser. This machine is also equipped with the 96/384 well plate reader. The plate reader will require additional, free training. The LSR II will be added to the Schedulebook software.  Anyone who has completed LSR II training may use the new machine. If you would like to get trained to use the LSRII or if you have any further questions, please contact Don Foster.
