Goals of MEGA

MEGA is a non-profit organization of geneticists in North America with membership open to geneticists throughout the world who share the goals set forth below. The purposes for which this corporation is formed in the United States are exclusively scientific and educational with the following goals:

  1. Promote education and research in the fields of human and non-human genetics primarily pertaining to the area of the Middle East broadly defined.
  2. Promote education and development of new geneticists especially of Middle Eastern origins in North America by encouraging participation and presentations at national and international meetings.
  3. Act as a resource for genetics knowledge to US and non US agencies, non-government organizations (NGOs), and individuals who are interested in this information for public or other non-profit use.
  4. Promote scientific collaboration and exchange among members of this organization including organizing periodic and non-periodic meetings.
  5. Conduct any other educational or public service goals in the field of genetics agreed upon by a vote of the membership in compliance with state and federal regulations pertaining to educational, scientific and non-profit organizations.

Invitation to join

Dear MEGA friend and member: The Middle East Genetics Association is clearly about associating. My dictionary defines to associate as"to bring into company with another..to connect or join together...to keep company." To me that is what is most important about what we do, getting together and helping each other. It is not a structure that is separate and that people join it, the structure is the members. So please pitch in and make this association better by your participation. In this package you will find information on our previous meeting in Egypt, on our upcoming meeting in Phladelphia, contact individuals, and membership information. Also included is a bibliography of publications dealing with genetics in the Arab World. We hope you will find this useful. We look forward to seeing you in Phladelphia.
