How
do I submit a work request?
Call our Customer Service Center at 5-4620. Our customer service
staff is available Monday through Friday, between 7:30 am and 5:30
pm to take your request for Engineering Services and to answer any
questions. Work requests can also be entered via the web using the
Request Form.
How
do I get the status of a work request?
Please call the Customer Service Center at 5-4620 during our normal
business hours (7:30 AM through 5:30 PM, Monday through Friday).
It will speed your inquiry if you know the work order number assigned
to your request. If you don't know the number, we can search our
data files and find your request for you. If the customer service
representative does not have the information, your call will be
transferred to the appropriate trade manager. This information is
also available on the web at work
order status.
Where can I direct my billing questions?
Please call the Customer Service Center at 5-6636. You will be directed
to the appropriate manager.
Can
I get an estimate for billable work?
We will provide a free estimate for any facility related need. If
you would like a free estimate, please fax a Request for Service,
with the appropriate PTAEO to our Customer Service Center at 737
4446. Please note your PTAEO will not be charged unless estimate
is accepted and project moves forward.
Whom
do I need to notify and what planning assistance is available when
I want to install a heavy piece of lab equipment?
To verify that the building has adequate structural capacity for
the intended installation, engineering staff is available to assess
the floor loading at the installation location and also review the
installation route through the building. Your department will be
billed for any professional structural design services required.
How

staff is available Monday through Friday, between 7:30 AM and 5:30
PM to take your request for engineering assistance and to answer
any questions. Work requests can also be entered via the web using
the work
request form.
Will
I be billed for engineering time?
There will be no charge for the efforts of our engineering staff
to provide an assessment and recommendation. The costs
associated with the implementation of the recommended
alterations will be the responsibility of your department, if the
required modifications are related to a change in use.
Should
I leave the building when I hear a fire alarm?
Yes. Fire protection systems are important notification process
and should always be acknowledged by all members of the YSM community
and their guests.

Where
can I park?
Parking is available in all of the listed
lots and garages. Assignment criteria include position, office
location, and specific job requirements.
How
much does parking cost?
Parking at Yale is fee based, and determined by salary range. see
rate chart.

I
would like to carpool. Are any special rates available?
Yes. When you carpool, all members pay a reduced rate to park. Each
carpool member is also allowed three days a month where they can
ride individually.
I
don’t like my current parking spot. Can I move or upgrade?
Yes. Your preference can be included on our wait lists. On a regular
basis, these wait lists are evaluated. People are moved to preferred
locations based on function within the YSM, and order on the wait
list.
Is
there a shuttle for days when I work on central campus?
Yes. See the transit schedules.
