Psychosocial and Mental Health

The Yale CPHP is working to advance the public health workforce’s ability to address the psychosocial and mental health needs of people affected by disasters and emergencies.

We offer a seminar entitled: “The Trauma Response: Preparing for and Intervening with Psychological Effects of Disaster and Terrorism”. This interactive seminar is presented by Dr. Steven Berkowitz and targets local and state public health officials, first responders, and mental health professionals. in April 2009, we co-sponsored a multi-day training on Psychological First Aid. For details, visit the course web page.

On January 24th, 2008 we co-sponsored a workshop entitled: "Disaster Preparedness, Response and Recovery: Linking Behavioral Health with Public Health Systems". This workshop aimed to strengthen the linkages between public health and behavioral health systems in Connecticut for disaster preparedness, response, resilience and recovery.
