    Sample Classes:

    ENDNOTE: Never type another bibliography again! Learn basic features of this bibliographic database management program that is available on the EPH computer lab machines. This class focuses on successfully importing citations from any Ovid database to your EndNote library and will cover features available in Endnote 6. Much of the information covered is on the Endnote information page.

    Introduction to Finding Stats on the Web: As Benjamin Disraeli has said, there are "lies, damn lies, and statistics." Learn some strategies on finding hard to find statistics using the WWW and Lexis-Nexis' Statistical Universe.

    CAB Health: Learn how to use CAB HEALTH is a database specializing in human nutrition, parasitic, communicable and tropical diseases and medicinal plants. CAB HEALTH provides an alternative point of reference, complementary to other databases such as MEDLINE.

    Intro to Major Health Databases: This broad class provides a quick and dirty overview of the major health databases available at Yale. Includes Medline, CAB Health, Healthstar, Aidsline, and so much more (woo hoo!)

    OVID on the WEB: OVID provides a user-friendly search software that is your gateway to Medline, CINAHL, Current Contents and many other important databases, as well as full-text of 45 biomedical journals.  Learn the basics of searching in OVID, and tips for planning effective search strategies across multiple databases.

    PubMed: This introduction to searching MEDLINE using the National Library of Medicine's PubMed demonstrates the capabilities of this free version of MEDLINE. We will cover basic author, journal, subject or textword searching, and how to print or save the results.

    Public Health on the Web:  The World Wide Web has revolutionized the way public health professionals do their work.  Learn how to put the virtual library to work for you.  Participate in a guided tour of the public health sites on the Selected Internet Resources pages, and discover high quality sources of information relevant to your own areas of interest.

    LEXIS/NEXIS Academic Universe: a database that contains full-text articles and abstracts from an international array of newspapers, magazines, newsletters, wire services, and transcripts. It provides access to the most up to date information on almost any topic.  It is an excellent source for current events/news, legal and governmental information, and medical information.  In this class you will learn the how to use the many Nexis "libraries" of journals and newspapers to search for articles. An online guide is also available.
