Annette Molinaro, Assistant Professor of Biostatistics, has been selected by the Yale School of Public Health Class of 2008 as Teacher of the Year.
Ask any group of YSPH first year students about the core biostatistics courses and the majority will admit to being worried about meeting that requirement. Biostatistics can be daunting. That is what makes this year’s selection for teacher of the year so special. Professor Molinaro taught one of the two core Biostatistics courses for the Class of 2008. Professor Molinaro is lauded for her enthusiasm for teaching, her steadfast willingness to help, and for being accessible, concise, and energetic. “I am thrilled to have been selected for this award. Considering the excellent teaching in our school as well as such a distinguished group of students, this is truly an honor,” said Professor Molinaro, who received her Ph.D. from UC Berkeley in 2004. “I’m glad that I could take a subject that I love — one that some may find intimidating — and make it approachable and maybe even exciting for the students.” Professor Molinaro will speak at the Commencement ceremony on May 26th, and her name will be inscribed on the Distinguished Teaching Award plaque, which hangs on the classroom level at 60 College Street. ~Story by Rosalie Blunden |
