Social and Behavioral Sciences
The Social and Behavioral Science (SBS) division is focused on understanding the behavioral, psychological and social
factors that influence health status. Furthermore, faculty and students are involved in researching strategies for altering
adverse lifestyles and psychosocial risk factors. Potential interventions are at the individual, social group and community
levels, and they seek to integrate an understanding of the interrelation of risk factors. Areas of expertise in international
settings include HIV/AIDS and pregnancy–related behaviors, disabilities and violence, and the intersection of health and
international development.
