Jody L. Sindelar, Ph.D.

Division of Health Policy & Administration
Professor Sindelar is a health economist and professor of public health. She is an expert on the economics of substance abuse including alcoholism, illicit drugs and smoking. Her studies include lost productivity, cost-effectiveness of treatments, social costs, and policy. She has published on the impacts of substance abuse on productivity, educational attainment, gender differences, and related policy issues in economics, policy, addiction, health and medical journals.
Currently, Professor Sindelar heads projects funded by the National Institute on Aging (NIA) and the National Institute of Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism (NIAAA) and collaborates on projects funded by National Institute of Drug Abuse (NIDA) and the National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH). She has also been the Principal Investigator on numerous past research projects funded by The Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ), NIDA, NIMH, and NIAAA, among others.
