Education: OSA
YOUR LINK TO THE FUTURE

The Office of Student Affairs is the department that guides students through their formal and informal education at Yale University School of Medicine, and it serves as the students’ link to the future. The Office of Student Affairs is responsible for the following:
- Career Development Manages the many complex steps of the traditional medical education and career path, and introduces alternate career options for students with unique interests. Provides direction to students interested in conducting a fifth year of study. Oversees orientation, clerkship assignments, elective scheduling, the post-graduate application process, and Commencement.
- Licensing Writes your final letter of recommendation (the “Dean’s Letter”), verifies academic status, coordinates all licensing processes, and provides post-graduation transcripts, licensure verifications, and required certifications.
- Record Keeping Maintains the permanent records and documents that pertain to each matriculated student’s progress through medical school.
- Counseling Serves as one of many alternatives where students discuss issues of personal and professional concern in confidence with a qualified, supportive listener.
- Extracurricular learning Oversees and coordinates a large and diverse collection of committees that provide students with enriching leadership and growth opportunities.
- International Studies Coordinates international study, work opportunities and fellowships for current YSM students, and manages the elective program for international students at Yale School of Medicine.
- Residential Life Includes the departments, which provide student housing and dining services, coordinates the Student Book Exchange, and oversees YSM recreational facilities.
