Standardized Patient ProgramCreated and maintained by .Dr. Rick Haeseler, the standardized patient (SP) program consists of actor patients who are trained in various medical scripts and are then utilized in sessions in which interviewing skills are practiced. In 1st year, there are two interview workshops. These workshops run over a period of 6 weeks which allows each student to practice interviewing a standardized patient under observation of skilled interview faculty. In 2nd year, SP's are utilized in a workshop in which students practice social history. In third year, each student participates in a workshop practicing (with SP's) how to break difficult news.
