Degree programsStudents at the Yale School of Medicine may be candidates for the degrees of Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) or Master of Public Health (M.P.H.). There is also a joint M.D./M.P.H. degree. M.D./PH.D. PROGRAMIn addition, the School of Medicine and the Graduate School offer a program leading to the combined degrees of Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) and Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.). There are 13 participating graduate programs in the M.D./Ph.D. Program:
Interdisciplinary/interdepartmental training programs in Molecular Cell Biology and the Neurosciences are also of interest to M.D./Ph.D. students. Special arrangements to carry out Ph.D. work in other departments at Yale can be made, providing a program can be worked out in advance which is approved by the department concerned and the M.D./Ph.D. faculty committee. The first two years of the M.D./Ph.D. program are devoted to the medical school curriculum; the remainder of the program, encompassing graduate training and clinical clerkships/electives, will be planned in conjunction with the Director of the M.D./ Ph.D. Program. Students usually take courses in the graduate school during their first and second years, but are not asked to enroll in a graduate program until the completion of their second year. The summer between the first and second years is usually spent in lab rotation(s). OTHER COMBINED DEGREE PROGRAMSSpecial arrangements may also be made to receive the combined Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) and Doctor of Jurisprudence (J.D.), and the combined Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) and Master of Divinity (M.Div.), and the combined Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) and Master of Business Administration (M.B.A.). Physician Associate ProgramThe Physician Associate Program offers a M.M.Sc. Degree.
