EducationFellowshipsMusculoskeletal Imaging FellowshipThe Department of Diagnostic Radiology at the Yale University School of Medicine is pleased to sponsor a 1 year fellowship in Musculoskeletal and Orthopedic Imaging. The training will include plain film interpretation, including general orthopedics, trauma, pediatric imaging, orthopedic CT, MRI, interventional procedures (bone and soft tissue biopsies), arthrography, and CT guided tumor localization. Candidates must have completed a radiology training program, be board certified or board eligible and be licensed by the state of Connecticut by the time of commencement of training.
The fellow will attend and participate in relevant conferences including sports medicine (weekly), orthopedic grand rounds (weekly), multidisciplinary orthopedic oncology conference (weekly), Journal Club and didactic radiologic musculoskeletal conference (weekly). Departmental Radiology conferences include 2 daily resident conferences and Radiology Grand Rounds (biweekly). The musculoskeletal imaging section has 3 dedicated radiologists on staff and performs approximately 6000 musculoskeletal MRI examinations on 5 state of the art 1.5T GE clinical magnets and one 3.0 TGE clinical magnet. There is an additional 1.5T GE magnet dedicated to research. The section performs approximately 40,000 musculoskeletal plain film interpretations, 500 arthrograms, 75 bone biopsies, and 1000 bone CT examinations on an annual basis. Yale New Haven Hospital is a Level 1 Trauma Center with an extensive exposure to blunt and penetrating bone injury and its imaging.
