Research Interests
Molecular biology of basal cell carcinoma and squamous cell carcinoma; wound healing; laser therapeutics; skin cancer epidemiology. Dr. Leffell is engaged in collaborative research into the role of p53 suppressor gene with Dr. Douglas Brash of Therapeutic Radiology and into the genetic basis of basal cell nevus syndrome with Dr. Allen Bale of Human Genetics. Ongoing is epidemiologic study of attitudes and effectiveness of skin cancer screening.
