Jan Stocklinski, M.A.

Jeffery German is an Implementation Coordinator working with schools and districts in several states.
He holds a BS in History Education and an MS in Education Administration from North Carolina A & T University, and earned his Education Specialist degree in Education Administration from Appalachian State University. He completed the Principals' Executive Program at the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill, North Carolina.

Jeff taught history at the junior high level and has been a principal at the elementary, middle, and high school levels. During his tenure as principal of Welborn Middle School in Guilford County, NC, the school won several achievement awards and was featured in a PBS television special. In 1997, Jeff received the Patrick Francis Daly Memorial Award for Excellence in Educational Leadership.

Jan Stocklinski retired as Director of the Comer School Development Program, Milliken II Schools and Special Programs in 1998 after 31 years in the Prince George's County Public School System in Maryland. She has worked with the national SDP staff in New Haven since that time as a Senior Implementation Coordinator.

She was one of the original national SDP facilitators.
While working with her staff, Jan saw the Prince George's County program grow from ten schools in 1985 to over eighty in 1998 and from a staff of two to a staff of sixteen. Working with her staff and other key leaders in the school system, a local professional development program was developed that became a Regional SDP Training Center in 1994. The Regional Training Center still conducts training sessions for school staff and parents, not only in the county, but from around the country.

Prior to working with the Comer SDP, she worked in the school system's Magnet Office at the inception of the Magnet Schools Program in the county. Before that she was part of a staff that ran an innovative program for "at risk" middle school students for two years (Project STAY); a Pupil Personnel Worker for one year; a high school counselor in four different schools; a junior high guidance counselor for three years; and a junior high teacher for four years.

From 1985 to 2000, she also worked part-time as an adjunct instructor and coordinator for Western Maryland College. As part of her job with Performance Learning Systems and Western Maryland College, she taught courses on classroom management, learning styles, coaching skills for successful teaching, motivation, curriculum trends and issues, multiple intelligences, questioning skills, and verbal and nonverbal communication.
In 1999 she received an award from Performance Learning Systems for having taught over 1000 graduate students.

She has worked with school systems across the United States and Trinidad and has presented at numerous conferences, including a presentation at the London Institute with other members of the SDP staff. Jan has received numerous recognitions throughout her career including Outstanding Educator for Prince George's County Public Schools and Women of Achievement in Prince George's County History in Maryland. She has co-authored a number of articles for magazines and several chapters in Dr. Comer's books.

Jan received her BA and MA from Frostburg State University (and then took courses to complete her certification in administration and supervision). Since that time she has taken many additional graduate courses and workshops to pursue her goal as a lifelong learner.
