Laser Vision Correction at Yale

Consultation

What to Bring:

  • Current eyeglasses and/or contact lens
  • Old eyeglasses/contact lens prescriptions
  • Contact information of current/previous eye doctor
  • Someone to drive you home

What to Expect:

  • Detailed questionnaire
  • Test of visual acuity
  • Eye dominance
  • Corneal topography (map of corneal surface)
  • Glaucoma screen
  • Ultrasound pachymetry (corneal thickness)
  • Pupillometry (pupil size)
  • Dry eye assessment
  • Slit-lamp examination
  • Dilated examination of optic nerve and retina

If you are a contact lens wearer, do not wear your soft contact lenses at least 2 weeks before your consultation. Rigid gas permeable (RGP) and other hard contact lenses should be kept out for at least 3 weeks.  Contact lenses change the thickness and shape of the cornea; removal of the lenses allow the cornea to stabilize for accurate measurements.

Liberation from glasses or contact lens is an exciting thought, but we understand your nervousness as well. You will not be rushed during the consultation and will have the opportunity to have all your questions and concerns addressed personally by Dr. Lee.

Please allow 1-2 hours for the visit.
