Time

Talk about the times of the day and the days of the week with young children:
“On Thursdays, we go to storytime at the library.”
“At seven o’clock is bath time.”

Hang a calendar in a place where a child can see, and make a weekly or monthly planner. Discuss any of the child’s activities: preschool, visits with family or friends, or any weekly activity.

Expose a child to the clock, but keep in mind that children don’t typically learn to tell time until after they are seven years old. When a child can recognize numbers, begin pointing out how to tell time.

Public Libraries offer great books for kids on time. Your FREE library card from your local branch will let you take books from any library in Connecticut. Many have great children’s sections with toys, computers, storytimes, and special events. They lend a variety of FREE and reduced-price passes to area museums, check your local branch for details.
