This project currently underway examines traumatic experiences in children and adolescents exposed to trauma and war, with particular emphasis on the impact of these experiences on adaptive functioning and reconciliation during the transition process from war to peace. The project involves longitudinal studies of trauma in Israeli children after exposure to missile attack, as well as an ongoing study of the longitudinal effects of trauma after an earthquake in Turkey. The study is organized and coordinated by Dr. Nathaniel Laor and his colleagues and has led to a series of recent publications, as well to the development of a treatment manual for children and families exposed to disaster.
