We are sponsoring a series of seminars in room S-216, 2nd floor of the Substance Abuse Center at CMHC on the second and fourth Tuesday of each month from 12:00-1:00 PM (unless otherwise noted on the schedule). Yale/Brown Retreat:
On Friday, October 18th, the Yale and Brown TTURCs had a retreat to explore the possibility of further project collaborations and overlapping research areas.

Discussion of possible areas of collaboration included:

animal research findings informing human studies,

human lab studies informing animal studies,

Bullet.

policy and economics,

Bullet.

tobacco treatment and pharmacology.

The agenda included overviews of both centers, and in-depth presentations by senior investigators from each center on specific topics. The presentations were followed by detailed discussions about how the work presented might be expanded, complemented or otherwise used as the focus for additional collaborative work.

Partners TTURC Site Visit:
Representatives from the national program office met with members of the larger TTURC group, with the communications group and with the policy group.

NIDA Site Visit:
On Nov. 14th and 15th, we hosted a NIDA site visit.

Alcohol and Tobacco Use community conference:
This November 2002 conference, sponsored by both the Yale TTURC and the Yale Center for Translational Neuroscience of Alcoholism, focused on the consequences of alcohol and tobacco and what we know about effective prevention and treatment methods for these disorders. This is an effort by the two Yale Centers to work with local and regional leaders in support of education about alcohol and tobacco and the importance of research.

January 28 to 30. 2003 The TTURC Partners Winter Meeting was held at the Inn at Loretto in Santa Fe, New Mexico. This meeting focused on the TTURCs presenting results from their research studies.
