Cases | A Patient with an Acute Gastrointestinal
Bleed
Interview
He claims the pain was intermittent and non-radiating, but on the day of admission
he began to feel nauseated and vomited a small cup full of blood, so he came
to the hospital.
He denies syncope, chest pain, cough, dyspnea, fever, recent trauma or diarrhea. He has no travel or unusual exposures.
He has continued to drink (about 2-3 six packs of beer per day). He is a smoker, is on no medications but occasionally takes Advil for hangover headaches.
He is divorced, lives alone, and has been intermittently unemployed.

Next: Physical examination
